Ramadan is just around the corner, and it looks like it is going to be a very strange experience, spending most of it at home with our families. It isn't at all bad news! Since it'll be a great time to teach our children about our religious traditions and create a beautiful and spiritual atmosphere in our homes. I have come up with a list of 30 activities you can do with your children at home this Ramadan, to hopefully help you fill your time with your children during this month with a lot of learning and fun! And of course, I'd love to see what you end up creating!
1. "Language box" Help your child learn about the different terminologies we use during Ramadan, with a hand drawn visual by yours truly.

2. Ramadan decorations

We started making those decorations a week ago, I cut crescent and star shapes from paper and Ayah glued pompoms/glitter on them, we then proceeded to hang them in the living room.
3. Make Ramadan special desserts with your children
4. Building a cave from playdough/tin foil/cardboard and learning about the First Revelation
5. Preparing Suhoor (Sehri, the meal before the fast) for house members that are fasting the night before.
6. Set a prayer and Quran corner in the house
7. Moon stages puzzle/matching cards
8. Making Fanoos (lantern) Ramadan from egg carton

9. sharing cookies with neighbors/friends/relatives
10. paper punch lanterns

14. Ramadan scene frame, this is especially wonderful for those of us living in non-Muslim countries where we don't get to see our cities being decorated for this holy month.

I made this scene by recycling an old box I had, ideally I would have used twinkle lights, so if you have those, by all mean, use them. I wanted to include a very traditional figure in it, the "Msaharati" a person with a Tabl/drum/dhol waking people up for the meal before sunrise.
15. Ramadan theme shapes from pipe cleaners
16. Making Moon and stars shape cookies
17. Tree of good deeds
18. Ramadan themed Mobile for younger sibling
19. Learning about Ramadan in different cultures
20. Learning Fasting traditions in other religions (for example, Lent, Yum Kippour)
21. Ramadan themed Coloring pages (Will soon be shared here)
22. Building a mosque from LEGO/magnetic tiles
23. Make a book mark for the Holy Quran
24. Ramadan printable activities & coloring sheets

25. Creating a Donation box of clothes/food items
26. Make prayer clothes and prayer mat for dolls
27. Start a Ramadan journal for your child to keep filling as they grow
28. Creating a sensory box with lights
29. "Eid mubarak" cards
30. Putting Mehndi/Henna on
I pray this month comes with blessings for us all and all our families. May you stay safe & blessed! Ramadan Mubarak!
